93rd Board meeting held on 19th and 20th December 2013 USE OF TITLE “VICE CHANCELLOR” BY INSITUTIONS UNDER MENTORSHIP

The Board observed that some institutions under mentorship had begun adopting the title ‘Vice Chancellor’ for their heads of institutions. Specifically, reference was made to the following:
· Catholic University College of Ghana – under mentorship of the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast
· Wisconsin International University College – under mentorship of the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast

· Millar Institute for Transdisciplinary and Development Studies – under mentorship of the University for Development Studies
· West End University College - under mentorship of the University of Cape Coast

The Board indicated that all University Colleges who were affiliated to mentoring institutions were not equivalent to Vice Chancellors of their Mentoring Institutions. The Board therefore decided that such University Colleges should not use the title Vice –Chancellor but may rather use any other name such as Rector, President, or Principal.
